Lead Bullets in California

I have a friend who is moving from the East to southern California.  With all the scare hype in the American Rifleman and other places  about the horrors in California, he is worried that he won't be able to shoot cast bullets.

I believe bullets containing lead are banned for hunting in parts, or all, of CA but have never heard that lead bullets are banned for target shooting. Until recently there were regularly scheduled CBA matches in CA which are not now available due to things other than being against the law.

I would appreciate any information about legal restrictions on lead bullets for target shooting in CA.  Thanks.

The way I read their statute, it only bans bullets made of or containing lead from being used while hunting any game animal or bird.

It will probably be death from small cuts. First, game then indoor ranges, then all lead and finally get rid of the pesky guns. None except the hunting are on the books currently, but the rumble is out there.

Currently, lead is only banned for hunting.  They were suggesting a bill that would ban all lead but it didn't pass.  The Yo-yo who proposed the bill said "Lead free ammo is easy to obtain".  Really!  Where do I get lead free 32-20?  He didn't understand that there are a few more types of ammo besides NATO calibers.  Where is your friend moving in SoCal?  If he is local to me (Orange County) I could help him adjust to the asylum.
