I was left a fairly large assortment of Ideal/Lyman 310 tools.  243/6mm, 270, 30-06, 257 Roberts. Is there still interest in this type of loading equipment.

Those wooden boxed sets are really IMPRESSIVE.  I've never seen those before.

I use a set in 30-06 regularly for my 1903, for nostalgia reasons.

I have a couple other sets.  The nicest is in a cardboard box.

They definitely have their place in today's world.

I'm jealous.

The wooden boxes were made by the old loader . Now gone, he prized them enough to house them this way. Although they all seem to be in excellent condition ( no rust ) I'm almost afraid to handle them. For sure won't use them as I would feel terrible if I damaged them in any way. To me, I see them as a great part of American history.   Kind of sloppy the way I feel about these tools. Since they have made it this far, they need to be taken care of for history. Just for fun another picture of a 12ga priming/ de-priming tool , also left to me.

I collect them down here in NZ. They keep cropping up here and there, sometimes at giveaway prices, sometimes gold plated (but I leave those to others lol). I also use them. Like Lee Loaders (whackamole), which I also collect, they still do exactly the job they were made for. Hard to break or wear them if used as designed and instructed. Mostly the damage I see is rust. But even that is easily cleaned off.

Love those wooden boxes. A little project coming up for me I suspect.

The Lyman Junior Truline Press also takes the 310 dies and is better to use the rifle dies in than the Tong Plier tool. Especially the long cases like 270Win. I'm still trying to find one here in NZ but beginning to suspect they did not make it this far downunder.

Enjoy those puppies. Keep them lightly oiled, use them occasionally. Keep them safe. Lots of history right there.

Well our visiting plans are set and well be in the US mid-Oct - but my secretary (of 48 yrs) has unfortunately not included Montana. We have 5 nights in Oregon, 45min from Vancouver WA, and then 5 nights down in Tampa - in both cases staying with friends we toured around the US with on motorcycles back in the late 90s-early 2000s. I'm hoping to head off to find at least one decent gun shop even if just to window shop at what I can't carry home to NZ.

Back to the OP 310 topic, I finally got a pair of the Pistol size Tong Tools that saved me cutting down my spare Rifle sized one. The only diff being the height of the threaded column that the dies screw in to. Mostly I've only been able to find rifle dies down thisaway. But I had found a set of 44-40 and year ago and last week 38sp/357mag with the correct Tongs. I loaded up a doz 357mag to try in my Rossi Puma. What a nice job these things do! They feed super well. I really like the two-step expansion die, basically the same effect as the current (expensive) Lyman M die, one of which I use for 38-55. Unfortunately this expansion die is missing from my 44-40 set - but one day...

Anyway it reminded me of this thread but sorry Dom-8, not going to be able to visit. Take care.
