Hello Everyone,

My wife and I live only 22 miles from the Gulf (Galveston), so I may lose power and contact for awhile. In the meantime, please contact Jeff Brown or John Alexander if you can get ahold of me, both of which has their contact info under the association/officers tab (as most already know).

Please wish and pray everyone down here is spared the worst.

David: this will be a rough few days for you all iin  south Texas. My thoughts and prayers for all who live in the area. One of the great things about living in the inland northwest is we don't have named storms to deal with. Hoping for everyone down there's safety. Gp

Here is my response to an email to John Alexander sent checking on us:

John,

We have never lost power or internet, but we did experience flooding in the lower level back of our house. It contains my gun room, a bedroom, bathroom hallway and laundry room. We got about 4 inches, just enough to get into my gun safes and wet items stored on the floor. It has receded for now, but they are saying we are going to get more over the next few days. The main portion of our house is about 18" higher, so we are praying we get spared the worst. My wife and I are just worn out from unloading my safes and trying to salvage other items. It is bad, real bad in our area.

David;

We have prayers for all of you in harm's way.

On a practical note, Pay Pal has a method for direct contributions to the Harvey Charity of your choice for those in Harvey's path. I am sure that all can use your help! Individually, we are limited by what we can do. However, collectively, we CAN make a difference!

Update: First of all thank you all for the prayers and best wishes.

Our home was built in 1930 and is on pier & beams, it has never flooded. During the 70's the previous owners built an addition on a slab that is about 24" lower than the original part of the home. The flood water got into the newer addition up to about 6". This newer addition contains a bedroom, bathroom, utility room, hallway and my gun/reloading room. The flood water came up so fast (within 30 minutes) that it caught us off guard. When my wife and I discovered the water it was already a couple inches deep. We were able to unload all three of my gun safes, but not before water started coming in them. Luckily know guns were damaged, even the two handguns my wife dropped into the water. Once we had everything up in that we could, I stripped the two handguns all the way and cleaned them before any damage could occur. We ended up losing little personal property, but of course all the carpets and a good bit of the sheetrock had to be pulled out. The bad news is we, like 80% of those affected by the flooding waters, have no flood insurance. Our home was considered to be above the 200 year floodplain. Unfortunately we received between 45 & 50 inches of rain in 2 days, going over the 500 or 800 year floodplain, no official account yet.

The even worst news is that my son's home was flooded with between 2 & 3 FEET of water. He is a fireman and has not been home since last Wednesday and don't know when he will get home. His wife and kids stayed elsewhere and we safe. Our oldest daughter and family in the Tomball area were spared, as well as the rest of our family. Even our youngest daughter & her husband who lives in Corpus Christi and is 6 months pregnant, was spared damage to her home, by the grace of god.

All of our neighbors got flooded completely. So as you can see on the news, it is real bad. Please, please donate to the Red Cross or other charities that will help the victims. The people of southeast Texas really need it.
