Shortly after I posted that I was in the market for a Herter's .401 Power Mag Revolve, Member Waleone informed me, there was one on Gun-Broker. Within a few minutes after reading his post I bought it.

From the pictures I thought the gun was in good using condition, but nothing exceptional. Matter of fact, I was worried about what the gun would look like until the day I picked it up. I have never interpreted pictures as bad as I did on this one. When I pulled the thing out of the box it looked new. After closer examination by me and several other knowledge gun people, everyone agreed, the revolver is unfired.

Now, another Delima, they are trying to talk me into not firing this fine revolver. My theory is, old cars are to be driven, old firearms are made to be fired. Yes, I'm going to shoot this revolver and enjoy the dickens out of doing so.

If you can find 40188 (also seen as 40388) you will love it with 5 gn Bullseye.  The heavy bullet to use is 401258.  I also had 491452 but never found it to be as accurate as the others.

Good for you mashburn. I could never buy a gun and not shoot it.

Sounds like you found a real nice pistol. My buddy had one in the 1970's. The original factory loads packed a wallup. Good luck with the new purchase.
