A few years ago I purchased a set of 6 T/C barrels in the Armor Alloy flavor for my T/C shooting, one of which is a .223 Remington. I finally bought an EER scope for that rascal and worked up some sizzling varmint loads for it. I got the scope doped in pretty good and while shooting those first 12 loads I noticed the chamber was pretty tight. I was having to push the cartridges into the chamber and pull them pretty hard to extract them. Fired cases has scoring all around them about 1/2" from the base. A closer examination of the chamber showed scoring marks (rings) all around the circumference about 1/2" from the breech face. That confirmed the chamber was making the marks on the brass.
I am wondering what in the world could have made those marks in the chamber. I think either the chamber cutting tool went crazy or the previous owner put a cleaning brush in a drill chuck and went bonkers in there. Either way, I will attempt to polish the grooves out of the chamber.
Shoot some ideas at me as to how you would tackle this project.
