A buddy has recently retired and has been shooting silhouette for several years and is talking me into practicing with him. I have not shot silhouette sense the early 1990s, that's when I started shooting HP across the course, then long range and then 22 prone.  Now days I shoot F-class HP and smallbore.  The days of slinging into a rifle are long gone. I'd like to dust off my Rem 260 (my bolt match rifle) with cast bullets for the fun of it.  Any suggestion for a good starting load for this caliber.  I have about 100 gas checked, 140gr cast bullets to start with.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Might not be much help but 6.5x55 data might be sufficient. I assume a rifling faster than 1:10?

I've a 6.5-308 [basically same as the 260 Rem] with a 10" twist.  I use 23 gr gr of H4895 or 23.5 gr IMR 4895 with a Dacron filler under a 266469 or NOE 269-145-FN.  Bullets are lubed with Javilina or 2500+, GC'd with Hornady GS and sized .266.  Velocity runs 1650 fps +/-.

Lyman CBH #4 has data for the 260 Rem.

28" HV 9T Brux on a R700 action. Saeco 266-140 shoots bragging groups at 100 with 37g of IMR4831. Goes 20 rounds before accuracy drops off.

Low node, same Saeco with 20g of IMR4198.
