Does anyone know of of a way to size brass shotgun shells without buying a die.

Its the metal base that you need to resize. MEC 600Jr presses use a simple metal sizing ring to push onto the hull down to the rim. Be easy enough to make a hole in a flat piece of steel to the correct dimension. Then i guess you need a tube to support the hull.
There must have been a zillion of these presses sold over the decades and work a treat.
For semi autos and pumps the gold standard is the MEC collet sizer that squeezes the hull base to resize. Found on Mec Grabber and Sizemaster presses. Also sold by MEC separately as a bench top sizer. The latter command serious $$$. An old Grabber or Sizemaster can be had, at least here down under, for a fraction of that. Worth it just for the collet sizer on those presses. Hope that helps.

The Lee shot shell loader has a ring for sizing bases. The rings can be purchased separately if you don’t feel like buying the whole set up.
