Probably best to direct a question to Jake at “Everything Black Powder” on Youtube.

I use a cannabis pre-press from Amazon. I have two. I fill one while the other is in the hydraulic press. I have a 12 ton jack so I don’t know how well aluminum would stack up against a 20 ton. They may bulge. My dies are rectangular and dried pucks are around an ounce in weight.

thanks, are those the 2x4's or the 3x5 molds? and how much green meal are you loading into it ? in the tutorials i was watching they were using dies made of 3 in tube and loading with 2 0r 3 heaping tablespoons full of meal and compressing with about 6000 psi on the jack pressure, and were using a pressure gauge to keep track of the pressure. i have a 6000 psi table top press, thought it might work but can bump up the hydrolic jack if need be. thanks for getting back to me.

I use 2”x4” but they're outside of the die dimensions. When I weighed my damp green meal they took about 30 grams. Now I just fill the die and strike the top off with a straight edge. Have fun and stay safe.
