Blue Paint Lube?

Has anyone heard of using Krylon blue paint as a bullet lube? One of my shooting colleagues has been using it, and he reports good results in the .44-40. Where did this idea come from? Are the results linked to this color specifically, or would any color work? Any information would be welcome!

Paint as a lube has been tried a lot. The reports I have read say it's NG. Perhaps a low velocity 44-40 migh be okay.

Shake and bake powder coating is so simple (as is tumble lubing), can't see trying paint.

when we were shooting high level 22 rf bench ... we ( and me !! ) were dipping our cartridges in hoppes #9  ... and Shooter's lead remover ...  just before firing ...  some matches were won doing this .... ( heh, or ? in spite of it ) ..

this is my 65th year of shooting lead bullets ... and i know almost nothing about them for real sure ...  

i keep thinking that as soon as i learn something about cast bullets, i will be world famous ... me and that guide that forgot to pack the mittens on the Mt. Everest expedition ...

Yep, shot fast ten shot groups with just dipping in Hoppe's #9 25 years ago, and no worse, or better, the NRA lube.

Rooster labs used to sell a liquid lube called "Rooster Jacket" which was advertised as for target loads. It was just like Simonize floor wax. So I tried floor wax - yes it works and you can spray it on using a pump sprayer. Just like Rooster Jacket, on any 38/357 load over 800 fs it leaded up and was inaccurate. The accuracy on 38 WC target loads was just OK, Alox was more accurate and more versatile.

There are lots of things which work reasonably well on low velocity loads.
