I have been using Clays for trap shooting for about 20 years and never had a problem until now. I ran out of my last 8 # container from about 2021 and bought a few 1 # because that was all I could find. I loaded 10 boxes without checking the drop. I had nothing but bloopers. I had been dropping 17.2 grains. The same bushing was now dropping 14.8 grains. I had to go from a #27 bushing to a number 31 to get back to 17.2 grains. That is a lot more powder for the same power. Alwas check your new can of powder.

I have a big jug of clays from about 2017-2019? I was looking for a quick powder for cast bullets, but I always preferred Tite Group. TG meters lots easier for cast bullet shooting.

Many powder makers are changing their product. The decline in value of the US dollar has made foreign production very attractive. The powder may have the same charge weight in a load but the ballistics may be way different. Some manufactures change the name ( Nitro 100 is now Nitro 100 NF no longer cut flake, it is now ball powder). Others like Reloader-7 mentioned earlier give no hint.

TiteGroup has gone through several composition and appearance changes, I have noticed 3. Loading data has not changed and density has been very close. I have found no accuracy differences but this is in pistols and revolvers which are not as demanding as bench rest rifle.

Be careful use the latest loading data!

One nice change, my long time favorite VihtaVouri powders are now priced close to American powders. Also they are available!

Manufacturing has gone through lots of changes in last 40 years. Used to be more chiefs than indians, now more indians than chiefs. Over worked management always searching for cheaper supplier to increase profits and please corporate. Doing the most with the least. Quality usually suffers.
