Members may be interested in this announcement from Australian Defence Industries.

Translation to US: AR2208 = Varget; AR2209 = H4350; AR2205 = H4227; AR2206(H) = H4895; Benchmark 2 = Benchmark; Trail Boss = Trail Boss.

The APS reference is to the replacement for AP70 (Universal) and one or two others

Trail Boss and 2205 have been missing in action for quite a while, so this should have some of our folks doing handstands.

US supply will be up to Hodgdon.

Propellant Update

Thank you for your patience since our last propellant update.

We are experiencing continuing strong demands for all of our propellant products. The factory continues to run at maximum capacity, 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, and we’re supplying as much propellant to the reloading community as possible.

Below is an update on our propellants and their availability.

AR2208, AR2209 – We have these propellants represented through the different stages of manufacture almost constantly.

AR2213SC, AR2217, AR2218, AR2219, AR2225 – Is typically made multiple times a year.

Benchmark 1, Benchmark 2, Benchmark 8208 – These propellants only account for a small proportion of our annual demand and are currently in production. We endeavour to make them in line with market demand.

Trail Boss, AR2205, AR2206(H), AR2207 – These propellants only account for a small proportion of our annual demand, and manufacturing is scheduled for late 2024/early 2025.

APS Propellants – The team are currently working through manufacturing of quantities of propellants from our Australian Pistol & Shotgun (APS) range and manufacturing is scheduled for late 2024/early 2025.

We thank you again for your patience while we aim to provide the high standards you expect from an ADI World Class product.

Thanks very much!  We definitely need some good news on the "Powder Front!"

Hopefully prices will become more reasonable...

On this side of the water ADI is our savior - main ADI powders all $129/kg ( a whisker under $60lb) while Alliant powders are listed at $179/lb when they arrive. Primers (imported) are $160+ per thousand. Opportunism prevails. To their credit, ADI has refrained from gouging.

Edit: US $37 and $99.

I wonder how much of Hodgdon powder is still made by ADI.

What I find interesting is that AR2206H is (or was) H4895 and I would have thought that would be a high volume powder.  Great for reduced loads; my .257 Roberts Ackley Improved LOVES it.

Cheers from New Zealand
