If I recall correctly this was the author that a few shooters such as Townsand Whelen did not particularly care for. I will recheck my notes.
However, I did notice another 44-40 target I had not seen before. Revised during 1894, I assume an even older target

While Gould was an OK shooter, he was mainly a magazine editor. Very opinionated and not much given to facts and research, so the young technical writers didn't think much of him. However, if you wanted to be published, you had to kiss his ass, just like it has always been and still today.
