Now that is clever. I was under the impression that lead will not generate vapours until well over 1000F.

Jeff, Joe is having lung problems so I think he means more like the fumes, the hot air and probably flux flumes make it harder for him to be around his casting sessions. This does look like a good idea for casters who have respiratory problems.
I notice myself how certain solvents, paint fumes etc set off my bronchial problems, and yes sometimes casting CBs. It sure ain't no fun gettin' old. I didn't realize that I was Superman when I was young!!!............Dan

How do you fill the ladle?
Itsa bottom pour pot :)
It sounds like Joe lifts the vent pipe by the top to lift it off to add more lead to the pot cause he says the top of the pipe is HOT:shock:........

Most young guys couldn't handle getting old. At 55, I still don't accept limitations well. My Doctor shakes his head and tries to be annoyed at some of my antics.

How about over 3000 degree F.

Nice tip ! now if I would use a squirrel cage exhaust fan and vent it outside? I might be able to make bullets in the basement. and keep peace in the family at the same time. Thanks!

The blower from an old furnace makes an outstanding vent for casting. I've cleaned wheel weights in the house and gotten away with it.
