So with that said feel free to leave your comments as responses to this post.

Dancing girls?

Seriously, I'd like to see more participation from CBA members. I'm sure there are a lot more that the 20 or so regulars that normally post here. While we're at it, I'd suggest a new logo for CBA, the “oulde english” font is quite dated, and makes us look like bunch of old fuddy duddys. Perhaps a contest in “The Fouling Shot” to desigh a new logo, offer a 2 year free membership to the winner, or something. Perhaps these could be the first steps in attracting more younger members. There are a lot of competition shooters out there who want to learn casting to save them money, we need a way to tap into that constantly renewing resource. Also, how about a board for beginning casters, title it something like “Just starting out” or something like that.

Cut the amount of topic headers at least by half, and probably more, and fix what's wrong so you don't spend twenty minutes typing out a long thoughtful response only to have it disappear when you try to post it. Force CBA officers and match shooters to participate even if it takes the point of a bayonet to do it. To all members: start topics even if you're only doing it to start topics, maybe you'll learn something you didn't expect. Paste pictures in your posts if they're relevant. Nothing better than seeing a picture to go along with what you're saying and they're fun to look at. But most important of all is for forum members to get involved. PMing answers to questions isn't helping anything and takes away from the forum. There's no such thing as a dumb question or to be honest a dumb answer. If you're trying to sell something try here first, we're not ALL cheap and I'm looking for plain base 30 caliber molds if anyone has any on the block. Besides the mechanical problems that pop up that we have no control over we're the ones that'll make or break this thing.

A video forum where educational videos on our relative topics could be requested and contributed and cataloged..

Well, since you asked...! Change the complete format to one similar to the type used by many other sites. “calguns.net” is an example. I think more article type posts and a resource capability would be useful. Heck, look at lasc's site. Articles by several authors, great info for cb shooters. How about “The CBA Reference” section? No, I can't do it myself, I can't post a picture and am techno retarded. We have an ace in the hole nobody else has, you know who. Maybe we should exploit our good fortune, make Ed's work available here in a library?

Dancing girls , free beer vouchers ?? Guess there are a lot of gimmics one could put out there and yes, it would be nice to see a bit more participation but really I don't see too much wrong with the site at all. Glad its there. I used to say that there needed to be more matches I could attend but then again all the postal matches we have now kind of puts that one to rest. I just need to get off my dead rear end and shoot in a few of them. In my case and in many others cases as well it just shows there is a tremendous amount of good usable knowledge out there and we just need more people to ask questions and more to volunteer answers. I think WE All just need to participate more and as in the case with me and those postal matches. We ALL need to light a fire and participate.

Jeff; other than the response time from the servier and the basic 'speed' of the site the forum has all that I would expect. At the end of the day a forum lives and dies by participation. Without active involvement from the great unwashed it is nothing SOOOOO to that end I will personally commit to contribute more to the CBA forum.

Cheers from New Zealand

Good work in asking the question Jeff and thanks to everybody for all the good suggestions.

Although I was a bayonet instructor for a while in the army I no longer own a bayonet and the people we would like to inspire to participate are all too far away to poke anyway.

Just so you know that a least a few are working on getting more participation I have hammered on it both to directors and in the Fouling Shot. I can't claim that I have done it right since I don't see the results but will keep at it.

Within the last week Pat has used one of his gentle and diplomatic verbal bayonets, that only he can wield, on the Board of Directors. Maybe shame will do some good.

Progress will build on itself and attract more active participants if we all try do so some of the things suggested above. I guess that means that I will have to learn to post pictures.

Then wanting to post pictures on this forum will be a great reason to get one!! Digital cameras are a lot of fun and you can get a decent new or used one for pretty cheap nowadays. You certainly don't need anything fancy to post pictures on the internet and if they made one megapixel models anymore you'd have more than enough camera for the task.

John, What kind of man goes through life without a bayonet or twenty?? Not very “Tactical” of you old boy. I've even got one mounted on my S&W Centennial. Never know when a Zombie attack will come and I only carry 50 speedloaders.

You'll never survive the Great 2012 Zombie Attack unless you get with the program. Cameras bayonets and bug out bags are the order of the day.

On a serious note answering the original question:

We need to have an article section and the “Best of the Journal” for helpful information.

Ed Harris' stuff should be readily available. I recently contributed a number of Harris' articles hoping that we could at least get a CD going - what happened to that. Ed gave me permission to do so. He isn't against publishing his stuff.

There have been other fine contributors to our magazine and we could have those fine articles on here to read AND download. Make it members only and it might help to drive membership movement in the organization.

We don't need more bling (changing logo, etc) we need content. We have it in the back issues.

Ed's series on the .38 Special and .32's are a perfect example of stuff that really ought to be readily available.

Just a thought or two...

What does this mean?

Are you referring to the categories (like Welcome to The Cast Bullet Association Forum) and sub-categories (like Announcements and Forum Rules and ...)?

I much prefer the format here to that used at calguns or castboolits.

I especially apreciate the “show recent” format and the fact that multiple posts to the same thread aren't listed separately.
