Could someone recommend the appropriate bullet mould(s) and powder for a 7.65X53 rifle?

Thanks.

My shooting buddy won many postal matches with #311284 cast hard and sized .313" over 12 grains of Unique and seated long into the throat.

I've found the 314299 over 28 gr IMR 4895 w/dacron filler to be an excellent load in all of my four 7.65x53 Argentine rifles. It runs right at 1900 +/- fps depending on barrel length.

The Lee C312-185 also is an excellent bullet over 27 gr 4895 w/dacron.

For plinking and/or small game I use the Lee TL314-90-SWC over 3.2 gr Bullseye for 900 fps +/-.  For a little more oomph the 311316 GC'd over Unique pushing 1500 - 1600 fps makes and excellent load.

Two of my rifles [M91s] have .3125 groove barrels.  The other two [M91 and M1909 have .314 groove barrels.  I usually just use a .314 H&I dies to GC, size and lube the GC'd bullets.  The 90 gr Lee TL 90 gr SWCs I TL with LLA and size in a Lee .314 push through sizer.

Larry,

That's just what I was looking for.  Thanks for the excellent detail.

I followed Larry's advice a few years back on mould selection for my Argie as well. Might have to try the 311284 and see how it does too.

I had an oversize bore 09 Argentine and had to use the Lee C312-185 mentioned above with #2 alloy and powder coat it twice then size to .316 to get any accuracy. Can't remember how accurate it was but it was much better than the splattermatch that the jacketed .312 bullets gave. Later found a good 7x57 08 Brazil barrel that fit perfect and now have a Frankenmauser.

I have a 1909 Argentine and the barrel is mint and tight. The groove on it measures .3110 and it shoots all of the 30 caliber cast bullets very well. My matching Engineer's Carbine has a .313 groove and it too shoots pretty decent. Another rifle that's not a 7.65, but is in the same groove size category is my Type 99 7.7 with a groove diameter of .312 on the button and it loves the 311284 and the 314299. Shoots better then I though it would. The barrel on it is pretty minty too. I shoot a variety of powders in all them so didn't mention any exact loads.

My 1909 is seeing very promising results as of late with the NOE 316-213. (Lyman clone) I size them at .314 and am having very good results. I'm trying to decide if I want to shoot this rifle this year in Military issue class this year. I am still tweaking some things.
