What happened to that .22 thread that Ross started? It seems to be as elusive as Big Foot today. And to think I was just getting ready to share my vast store of knowledge with him.

When the weather finally warms up I will start load development with the .22 Savage high-power.  Have an Ideal 228367 g.c. & Ideal 22835 p.b. also,  a Cramer 59S dbl. cav. g.c. r.n.  just purchased a MP 3 cav. h.p. mold..not sure on this one..a lot more complicated and hoping I can dipper cast with it.  It''s brass so with those tiny cavities it's one heck of a heat sink. Another learning curve.

    Rifle is a Westley Richards Farquharson  type dropping block.  I mounted a Leupold fixed 12x cpc scope in Leupold mounts on 1/4 rib.  Bore slugs  .2269"  twist 1-10.5" 4 groove.

    I also swaged SAECO #221 using a Lyman .228 lube sizer die with a round nose top punch to .228 dia. using drill press as an arbor press.  Bullets were as cast dia. .226" so didn't take much force.  Reformed to .228 round nose @ 59grs.

    Lots of work ahead!

I was breech seating my 225 Winchester Hiwall for a bit. It was fun.i just made a breech seater for my 218 Bee Stevens 44-1/2 and this weekend will see how it goes.

The LBT 62 grain is a nice shooting bullet. I like using soft 10bhn alloy and quick powder such as TiteGroup. My rifle has larger diameter throat erosion. The long bearing surface of the LBT likes this.

Kinda off this topic but it's about 22LR ammo.  I was intrigued with the Neil Waltz die set and finally found one.  A little pricey but I don't believe they are made anymore either.  So in using the Die I wasn't real happy with the lube builtup and having to clean out thedie ever so often.  Saw a repost of a "home made" tool that is exceptionally easy to make and use. So I made one

1" mild steel bar, drill through w/ a #2 drill. Spot face with .25" drill. Part off at .925". I used an End Mill to drill out the relief for the base of the 22LR.

Just insert a 22LR in the tool, die, jig whatever you care to call it set it on a flat surface and with a box cutter blade lop off the tip. Easy flat top. Alters the bullet weight a grain or two.
