Yesterday closed out my hunting season. The 44-40 hunting page has been updated
I shot 8 deer for the season for the amount of time I was able to travel and hunt there. The land owner's son shot 40 with his own tags, or with quota tags...and a around 110 with depredation tags.
I shot 6 with the 44-40.
30 yards, 40 yards, 50 yards, 75 yards, 100 yards,,,and one at 250 yards.
I shot two with the 30-06, 22 yards and 200 yards

I didn't even see one during the season this year. They are getting very very smart.
With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

Nice! I keep skipping the warm part of the season because it is too warm to hang a deer. This year I ended up sick with what was probably covid for the majority of November. By the time December rolled around we got frigid early and the neighbors had done a good job spooking the deer. The neighboring farm has a tenant that “goes for a sunset drive on the farm with the odd gunshot”. I used to hunt there but it’s gone from heaven to a waste of time.
