Good Morning All,

At $4/bullet, this retiree is now looking to cast bullets for the beast. I have seen some references to folks with 50BMG rifles using linotype lead for such an endeavor. I can fool with the lead but have had no luck finding a shop to create a mold that will drop an OEM 13.2mm x 92mm bullet.

To date, some shops do not have blanks long enough, and some say they do not have blanks wide enough.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Randy

Try here, there are several sizes listed: https://noebulletmolds.com/site/product-category/bullet-moulds/512/

You can lap the mold slightly larger if needed.

Apparently they carry them.

Good Morning,

I just sent those folks an email about opening up their molds to .525.  If they can, we are done.

Thanks All,
Randy

Accurate can't make this. They have a 1.73" tall mold

If you get a cast bullet the same length as the original projectiles it will be much heavier. I would try to get a bullet of the same diameter and weight, not necessarily the same length.

Good Afternoon All,

This is what I am thinking about working with.  I have a machinist who can open this up to .525" but that just increase the bullet weight.  Right now, my $4 bullets are solid copper coming in at 854gr.  The OEM weight, with a steel core, is around 795gr.

Might have to consider blocking the top of the mold to shorten the bullet and bring the weight down.  Got to leave the bottom alone as these folks do have 50cal gas checks.

Good Morning All,

Looks like this would be a closer fit and needing less fiddling:
