I'am a little dissapointed with the accuracy I got with a 30 carbine cartridge in a 30-06. 60 yards 5” groups in an accurate H&R sporter bolt action that is capable of 1 1/4” groups with 06 ammo. I also ordered a 32 H&R mag. in 30-30 chamber but haven't tried it yet. Have any of you had good results with supplemental chambers. Frank C.

Frank, I have an adapter somewhere for a 30030 to 32ACP.  I haven't used it in probably 60 yrs.  As I recall I used it with my Dad at the old Long Beach Police range on Los Coyotes Diagonal.  If memory serves at 50yd I had trouble keeping it on the backing of a 50yd pistol target.  I have never heard of any decent accuracy from one of those gizmos.  Dad thought it might be useful to shoot grouse in the head up in B.C. , but it proved itself otherwise.  Maybe if the bird was within 5 or 10 yards.  He gave up and bought a Crossman pellet pistol.  That worked better.  Brodie

They are great for shooting blanks up in the air on the 4th of July! Not much else, at least in my experience.

I have several adapters in .30-30, 7.62x54R and .303 British which can use either .32 ACP or .32 S&W Long ammo. With lead bullet handloads they do about an inch at 25 yards with iron sights and are OK for small game at woods ranges.

My experience mirrors Ed's. I have a .22 Savage HighPower/.22RF, .303 Savage/.32 S&W short, .30-30/.32 S&W short, and .30-40/.32 S&W short, and .300 Savage/.32ACP (clips onto the front, forming the “neck” of the cartridge)- all Marble's- and a Winchester brand .30-06/.32 S&W short. They all give tin can accuracy out to 30-40 yards.

I never used them for anything other than occasional plinking and showing off to young friends who never heard of such a thing. Sometimes I would stick a loaded one in a pocket to use for coup de grace shots on fallen deer, but never had occasion to employ them.

Ken Waters did an article for handloader mag. and came to the conclusion that a fells is better off loading light loads with a fast non position sensitive powder in the parent case. It was not only cheaper but more accurate. It made some sense years ago when small pistol ammo was quite cheap Frank C.

Frank, one can still buy primers cheaper than loaded ammo, even 32 S&W. When I read Ken Waters article, I bought two and found out he was exactly right. My 32 S&W in 30WCF and 32ACP in 30/06 would fire. But you couldn't hit much. FWIW, Ric

I have adapters for 12 gauge to 32 H&R and 357. I can hit more with a revolver than I can using the adapters in a double barrel shotgun.

When the various companies made an adaptor to shoot .25 ACP in .250-3000, they were sending a .251 diameter bullet down a .257 bore. They were either too stupid to check bore diameters or willingly sold a piece of junk. This is a gimmick to get your money and little else.

The accuracy part above has been my experience as well with a 32 ACP / 30-06 adaptor.

I use an adapter shoot 45 Colt in a 577-450 Martini-Henry. I think I got about 5” groups at 50 yards.
