Hello All.  I have to admit to being a push-over for gadgets, so when I saw this on Flee-Bay I had to order it up.   5.5mm 6 LED USB Waterproof Endoscope Borescope Tube Inspection Camera 5M.  $13.96    What the heck, just fourteen bucks.   Plugs into your PC and runs on Windows.   Friends at Boolits say it works, We'll see.  Gp

I have a similar one, cost $20 (I probably missed the Christmas sale). It fits down the bore on my 223, picture is good enough to tell you if there is a spider hiding in the barrel, not good enough to tell which gender it is.

Ric: I got the endoscope hooked up to the PC today. For the price I give it a thumbs up. There's not enough clarity to judge the quality of a bore but plenty good enough to give a view of the throats and rifling in my semi-auto carbines whitch is what I bought it to see. It works better than I expected for $14.   Gp

Thanks for the update! I think I will pass, as that does not fulfill my needs. Ric

Does it work well enough to spot fouling?

I once had a look down one of my barrels with a bore scope. Was happier before hand. Sometimes being oblivious is better. A bit like having a chronograph. I have seen a lot of disappointed faces.

D'skid: Yup, been playing with the controls on the scope this evening and am getting a pretty fair view of the bore, you can see any little bit of leading if there is any. This scope is capable of taking pictures and storing them on your PC and when I figure out how I'll post some shots. SIL is a computer whiz I'll ask his help. I'm rather pleased with this gadget myself, what the heck I've spent $14 on less. The tube is 15' + in length and water proof so you might be able to look down the hole and see if that varmint is home also. lol Gp

owch ... my borescope was $700 and i see the same rocky road you see for $14 .... heh . and a camera attachment is even more bucks ....

the best bores have been my blackstars and my new surplus swede mausers ... the worst chamber is the swede mausers ..

i have always thought that might be why the swedes are not quite as good with lead as the ruskies or springfields or swiss k31 . if i had a 6.5 swede reamer i thought i would go illegal and cut a fresh chamber and see if it improves .

gpidaho please post some photos when you get them figured out .

I just had a doctor use a borescope on me but that was to look at my prostate. As he's inserting it, I'm watching it on the monitor. As it's going thru the urinary tract it comes up to this closed off part and I'm wondering how he's going to get it thru there. Doctors says, can you ease up on your legs a little. So that was the problem. Operation is scheduled for January. Will be my third one.
