I've poured water through barrels, made heat wave diverters, taped target tubes to scopes and devised other even more embarrassing solutions to hot barrel heat waves. I ordered a battery powered = 2 D fan from Home Depot-delivered to a close store, for $6.88; picked it up this morning and shot using it today. It sits on a plastic ammo box or ??, makes no noise, and the barrel heat waves are gone-no more waves through the scope. The batteries, 4 per pkg, cost more than the fan. Zowie! joe b.

Use the 5 inch and 10 inch O2Cool fans for camping and rendezvous. They work great

The venetian blind thing does not work with a long string, particularly a double base like 5744. We've all gone to O2 fans out here at Clark Rifles. Cooler than a penguins yaw-yaws.

Will wonders never cease! You have penguins in Wash. State? I only spent a few days there in mid-summer - and it was still too cold and depressing for my constitution. I've only seen penguins in extreme southern Argentina. They're welcome to that miserably frigid place, too - but did look like they would be a real gas to shoot (in the absence of prairie dogs). Tell me more---

Yep the whole place is cold, wet, grey and depressing. So don't anyone else come here!

Well, the USAF chose to stick me up in that area for nearly 4 years (9th USAF Div. Spokane, WA and a radar site in N. Central Oregon). So I actually DO know that it is a Helluva' long way from Yakima - to Vancouver. Just tell me - Do they have penguins in Vancouver? - in less dismissive and insulting words - if you happen to know any.  We have an awful lot of travel trailers and motor homes with Washington license plates down here between Thanksgiving and Easter every year. They mostly seem to be nice folks - and they are entirely welcome. What's your problem?

OK guys.  Let's play nice. Otherwise someone will claim the the weather in Maine doesn't make it the true garden spot that our tourist bureau claims and I will have write a letter to defend it. After I shovel a path to the mailbox. John
