The parallax marks on my 30X Lyman STS have no white left, and I can't hold the scope far enough away to see the marks.I need to paint the engraved marks with white paint. I've got a jar of acrylic white and a brush. Paint and wipe off? Looking for a hint or two, this is m y first try. Thanks

Got it, thanks to all. Now to see if I can pour that stuff out of a boot.

You might want to try a lacquer stick.  http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/general-gunsmith-tools/engraving-tools-supplies/inlay-color-fill-sticks/lacquer-stik-reg--prod7778.aspx>http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/general-gunsmith-tools/engraving-tools-supplies/inlay-color-fill-sticks/lacquer-stik-reg--prod7778.aspx

I've used lacquer sticks before and they work well. The use requires a very clean surface, usually prepared with a non-residue aerosol like electronic contact cleaner, or plain soapy water with plenty of hot-water rinse. They will usually darken to an ivory shade after a few years.
