Hi guys, I just wanted to wish you all a happy Christmas and a great new year! Its Christmas morning here in steamy tropical Darwin and I'd imagine in the US where most of the crew live, its the height of winter... don't complain, enjoy it! Guns warm up slow and dump heat quick so range time in winter is something I really miss! I'd like to thank every one on the forum for their prompt replies to others posts, mine included, and for the concentration on knowledge on cast bullets and fire arms, the value of which is without price. So drive safe, shoot well and have a ball!! cheers and seasons greetings to all,

James Walker

And yes, for you guys in the US, not to mention Italy, Aussies are just that much more advanced than the rest of the world stuck behind the international date line !!

Dry warmth? unfortunately no. Darwin is in the tropics. Xmas is the height of the wet season when the monsoon comes over and dumps out annual 6 metres or so of rain in 4 months. the rest of the year we call the 'dry season' for obvious reasons... We move into drought for 6 months... Hot here but in a sauna kind of way... one is never cold... houses have air cons but no heaters... Gun rust is a nightmare. Ditto reloading dies etc.  I'm thinking  of getting a bunch of silicon gun socks to protect my guns. Ditto a dehumidifier.  I put a camel pack kind of silicon 'bucket' into my gun safe a few months ago. 3 weeks later it was a bucket of water... its wet here, and hot, and dry heat is what I dream of during winter which comes to me in May/June... Wet season has its own niceness to it ... I cycle a fair bit and when the rain hits I just cool down! Its great like that. Also the whole country greens up and you have to mow your lawn twice a week as every thing grows like crazy!! All of nature is beautiful: hot, cold, dry, wet etc. As hunters and shooters we are lucky enough to experience it in all its moods. I feel for those people who criticise us for our ' blood thirstiness' but never get to immerse themselves in nature as humans have for countless generations. I feel they are emasculated from life...
