I have shot this thing with handloaded 000 , 00 , 0 , 1 and 3 buckshot . And it seems to like them all ! Even tried the single 0 with buffer .

Patterns with handloaded 0 Buck today at 25 yards .
First off unbuffered handloads . One shot the right barrel , one shot the left barrel and one target with shots from both barrels .

Saturday was the first day of the gun season here in VA !
In the morning I went out with the Parker hammer 10 gauge and my Remington 700 BDL 6.5-06 . I saw two scrub bucks in the AM but didn't get an open shot .
In the evening I went back to the same tree stand and carried the same guns . About 16:30 a pair of deer ambled up so I took the 10 gauge popped the first one at about 15 yards and it ran maybe 15 yards and piled up . The second one was a hair past 25 and I let fly at her she dropped on the spot !
My load was twelve #0 pellets in a SP-10 wad with six 9mm cases full of Winchester Grex all pushed with 30 grains of SR7625 and lit with a WIN 209 !
First deer for this gun , first time I ever got an immediate double with a shotgun shooting buckshot and the first time I ever took a piebald deer as the larger doe was a piebald . And as it turned out the first one I shot was actually a button .

Got around to shooting a round of skeet this past wednesday with the old 10 gauge . Gun handles very well and shoots nicely . But it is a touch heavy to swing if a bird gets the jump on you .

May very well have a Grade 1 top lever hammer 10 gauge coming that needs a fair amount of work . Dunno about it yet as far as purchasing . Stock is cracked pretty bad in the wrist , the guns off face and the left hammers been replaced . On the good side it's all there except for the original left hand hammer and it already has a Parker letter saying blah blah blah is correct etc etc . The cracked stock I can deal with , the off face and any loosening of the action I can deal with relatively easy . The replaced left hammer however is another matter . Oh yeah I almost forgot the barrels don't ring but nothing is rattle loose . The barrels to fix if they need to be resoldered would not be cheap . That is the main problem I am still apprehensive about .

Well I've come to my senses and pretty much decided not to get the Parker Grade one top lever hammer 10 gauge . It has just to many issues to make it a good idea I think . The non ringing barrel bothers me .

Made it out to the gun club this evening to cook for the skeet league . After I got done cooking I took my old Parker Grade 2 top lever hammer 10 gauge out for a round of skeet and I'm happy to say I shot my first perfect round of skeet with that gun . Think I've shot ten or twelve rounds with it in the last three years of which most were 23's or 24's but this was the first perfect round .

I forgot to mention . When I originally got this gun I “thought” it was choked pretty open based on the choke gauge I was using . Since that time a couple other sets of bore/choke gauges came my way and this thing is choked fairly tight in both barrels .
