From the results you describe, either the bullet is too small for the bore or too hard for the soft load you are using. I would slug the bore and compare to the bullet size first, then start working the load up hotter to compensate for the harder swaged round.

The fact that they are swaged tells me they are relatively soft compared to a typical cast plain base design. Maybe a faster powder will bump them up some and improve results. If it was me I wouldn't be above giving some of those babies a tumble in a LLA mix just for experimental reasons.

If memory serves these bullets were8 BHN and .310 diameter before lubing. Best results were at subsonic velocities. I used 6 grains of Bullseye in the .30-'06 and from a Model 70 bullgun with 10x Unertl they would shoot a clean score at 100 yards on the 100-yard smallbore target.

I used some swaged Albert's bullets in 44 and 41 handgun calibers. They worked OK if the velocity did not exceed 800 fps or a little more. Go faster and the bullets rolled snake eyes.

I still have a couple hundred of the 41 cal 210 SWC around somewhere.

joe .. on cleaning moly .. if that is what the ” lube ” is ... moly is insoluable, but you might try soapy water .

i just leave my moly barrels dirty, but patch out the excess moly. once moly conditioned it takes nearly none to keep things consistent.

The Alberts bullets used 66% solids of MoS2 in a urethane base with Toluene carrier. The residue is removed by Shooter's Choice or Ed's Red having a good dose of acetone in it.

3D is graphite based.

Alberts used a commercial moly based paint used for coating saw blades.
