Im about ready to start putting a .358 Win together using a Sprfld 03A3 action and 24” Shilen barrel. My reamer should be here next week and my Accurate 230 gr 360230 mould came in yesterday so I got a few bullets cast up. I would like to get around 1800fps and maintain accuracy. Has anyone used the 230 cast in the 358 Win ? What powders ? Thanks

.35's are great! I have Rem 700 in 35 Whelen, Savage 99 in .358, Marlin 36 in .35 Rem, Marlin in .357 Mag and a Ruger #1 in .357 Mag.
Working today on the 357430 (200gr RN PB ) in the 358 with BLC2. If you choose the 358009 go with a 1:14 or faster twist.

All I can add is good luck and have fun on your new project! I do like the .35s in a long gun and think you'll end up with a good rig. Mine are either .357 Magnum or the venerable .35 Remington. I use LBT and Ranch Dog moulds for both, as well as others. The .35s are like the .30s as far as a wide variety of molds out there. With my Marlin 336 .35 Rem. I can get a 200 grainer going past factory speeds and maintain very good accuracy. Haven't made meat with it yet but have high hopes of using it on a Black Bear this fall.

think more in the 3031 to 4831 area. I don't go that slow or light with my 358. but with the saeco #248 <250gr> sized to 358 diameter using rl-19 and fed-210 primers. I just went straight to jaxketed data, and just poked around the 48-50 gr area. I settled down between 48.5 and 49 grs and use the rifle mainly for deer. they don't stand a chance out to 250 yds or so, I just point and press the rifle does the rest.

According to the Shilen site my .359 sized and lubed bullet should be a good fit. Barrel wont be here for a week or so . By bullet weighs 226grs lubed and checked with my recycled and sweetened mix. The metal ends up being 14-15 bhn. Powders I have are 4198,4227,4320,3031,4064,4895,BLC2,846,H335,4831,4350, DATA2200 Red Dot, Bullseye,Unique,H110,296,AL-7,2400,680
If I can I would like to get 1800-2000 FPS for a hunting load . For punching paper I figured either unique or 2400 would get me there.

Which powders do you have available? What does your 360230 weigh and how is the fit? I've a little experience delivering a few 225 - 233 grains projectiles from a .358 Win format using AL8 and 7383 with a few powders in between.
