Boy some forums LOL. I asked a moderator on an unnamed forum how to go about deleting my account because my collection of hip boots just weren't enough anymore to stem the tide of BS from flooding over the top. Actually I didn't include the hip boots part but only asked how to delete my account. When I checked back to see if he returned my PM this is what I got. 

                        You have been banned for the following reason:                         Ask and ye shall receive.

                        Date the ban will be lifted: Never

I love the NEVER part. Looks like some people on certain internet forums get real pissy when someone asks to leave and just have to get the last word. :D Oh well, guess they figure it's not like they don't have enough experts now so banning (?) one isn't gonna make a difference. If this keeps up the CBA forum will be the only place me and JB are allowed to visit!!

Pat,      I have a real good idea what forum that is. Lot of fragile glass egos on a certain forum that I was banned from. Sounds like the same one.   Pat

If someone else had of done to me what I did to myself . . . I'd have killed him. Humility is an asset. Heh - heh.

Being banned from some places should be rewarded with some kind of merit badge. I got banished from Cast Boolits for a time for being critical of an over bearing moderator.

Not pointing a finger at any specific site but after years of reading the BS some people like to pass off as knowledge and personal experience I think a plumbers certification would be more in order.

Back when I was shooting the BPCR pretty seriously, I searched around for all the info that I could find. Ran across a group that looked like it might be worthwhile and stuck around for a while until I found that it really wasn't. The main reason was that it continually filled up my personal mail box with repeated response notifications whenever anyone posted a reply. So, asked if I could unsubscribe. Don't think I ever even posted anything while I was there. Got somebody's  attention! Thought my PC was going to melt. Door slamming on my behind, blah, blah, etc, etc. Pretty easy when you're safely hidden under a rock.

Hi Pat,   Please do tell.  Save the rest of us from wasting our time somewhere that from the sound of it, is not worth the effort to visit, let alone join.    Poor customer service is not limited to just retail businesses.  There are some shooting forums that after reading through some of the posts, I vow never to return.  Icky, creepy, snobbish, snooty, FOS, all come to mind. Mike my lips are “seeled” as to the offending forum. I just thought it was funny that after I asked to delete my account the response was to ban me “forever". Seemed a strange reaction to a simple request.

If it's the forum I'm thinking of, I tried to do a trade with one of the moderators. I sent my stuff to him and waited......and waited......and waited, nothing ever showed from him. Tried to contact him with no response. Once I contacted one of the super mods the stuff was returned and I was sent some items to brush it under the carpet. Live and learn.

I have a fair idea of the place as well. Banned for ever. There are ways around that and not all that hard either. Even for a computer dummy like me. When I first got a 'puter all I could think of was the vast amount of info at my finger tips. The bs was there but was pretty thin a short 15 years ago. Now that folks have figured out they can hide behind a computer screen it seems there are a lot of people with abilities over and above average on most subjects. I did a search for some questions I had a couple of weeks ago. I hit the go button and it took me to the site. Couldn't access the articles, so I joined there forum as it looked like an interesting place. Tried to access the articles and still a no go, seems I need to be a paid subscriber. Price is fair enough about $1 a month. However I am not in the habit of buying a pig in a poke sight unseen. I will just graciously bow out from participation. I do get bored and read some and just shake my head. Not to knock anyone as they could be here but the article on the gent that misunderstood and used AA#7 in place of reloader 7 in a 444 marlin. Just one of those times we all need to double check rather than go with what we think is right. Jeff

I have never been banned from any forum, well maybe one, but that was because I dared to disagree with the sites owner, I told him I wouldn't be back, and he told me he was going to ban me, all over a login issue! I probably came close a couple of times in my life though. My position is that if I'm getting that frustrated with a place, it's time to take a vacation and decide if the place is worth it to me. The best solution so far seems to be the “ignore” feature that most boards have. As a result, I have one person here on ignore, three on “Cast Boolits", two on 24 Hour Campfire, and so on. There are also a number of sites that I simply didn't return to at all.

Considering I was asking to have my account removed it's not like I'm upset with the ban it's just that I found it funny and a strange reaction to a simple request. The forum itself isn't too bad, if you don't mind wading through a ton of horse$#!& to find a single pearl, but if you're not a member of the in crowd you better tread lightly and NEVER question one of the favorites sons over some nonsense they wrote.

I'll just stay here from now on for my cast bullet forum fix. It might not move at the breakneck speed of some but there's more common sense and truthful answers written in one day than some forums put out in 6 months. But I'm pretty sure that's because you have people here that actually shoot their guns and don't spend their lives talking about them.

Some of the things I read over there reinforce the lefties arguement that a significant percentage of the American people are too stupid to own guns or to govern themselves.

That unnamed forum never used to be that way.  However, it has devolved enough for me to post very little there and to not send them another contribution, “not ever"!
