I polished a stainless Super Blackhawk hammer and put it on an old model Vaquero. I was able to take the brushed finish to a high gloss, actually a little higher gloss than the Vaquero. I used a felt wheel and Ryobi buffing compound on a Demel tool. Worked great.

another fun thing is to use a soft brass brush wheel ...

i originally bot that brush to remove the blue paint that ... ...   an un named assailant ... had sprayed on a perfectly good Miroku 92 long colt.

hey, I wound up with this neat rifle, btw ... one of my few good moves this year ...

a brush with destiny, ...  so to speak ....

I once had a Stainless Steel biz, balustrades and such. We used those green synthetic pads like you see in kitchens as potscrubs for hand finishing stainless pipe and fittings to a brushed nickle look. Fast and easy and cheap. Bought from industrial supply store that supplied linishing goods. Various sheet sizes and grade. I use same thing for cleaning rifle brass when chucked up in electric drill for prep with Lee stud and shell holder. Fast and lot cleaner than wire wool.
