I was shmoosing over the web looking for nothing in particular when I found this add at one of my favorite dealer here in Canada. The add didn't carry any photo but having bought from Ellwood Epps a few times before,I knew that when they wrote down ''condition good'' it really was good to very good. The thing that tickled my fancy was a Husqvarna 640 in 9.3X57.The price was very good and I figured that would turn out to be an excellent winter project for this coming winter.

The gun came in and a short winter project it's gonna be!The whole thing is more like in the very good category and I kinda feel like telling them they underpriced it...but I'm still only at the considering stage! So the project is going to be about making 9.3X57 brass outta 30-06.A set of Dies from Hornady with their long taper expanding plug made it an easy three operations process(cut off aprox 1/4'',one pass in the sizing die after well inside the neck and outside body lubrification and final trimming...make it 4 operations if you count the 3 seconds it takes for deburring).

As I write this,my first 9.3X57 stands next to a 30-06 and can't help but enjoy the fact that I've pushed the limit one step further away than just go out at the dealer and buy already made ammo.Kinda like falling in love for the first time....again!

Next step, slug the barrel and order a mold(think I'm gonna have this one made out single cavity out of brass).Looks like the winter project will be over before winter.
