Two Unertl 20X in the "used and not abused" condition. I want to sell them since they've sat in the safe for at least five years without use.

Would using Brownell's 44/40 Touch-UP solution penetrate any seals to the interior of these scopes. I fear ruining the seals or the coatings on the scope. This would also make them more appealing.

I expect that cold blue touch up use may actually reduce the value of the scopes that are now in "used and not abused" condition.

I tried 44/40  on my Fecker and it looked worse..

Bud, Anyone who buys them is going to use them. The finish is just not that important to an external adjustable scope. We all know they will have wear marks in one season of shooting.

Thanks for the replies. I'll polish them with 0000 bronze wool and cover them with Renaissance Wax.

I've had a number of Unertls over many years and have sold all but three at gun shows. None of mine were pristine; all showed at least some minor cosmetic wear. People interested in these scopes are used to a little finish wear as long as the scopes are mechanically okay.

Try black wax type shoe polish.

I'd leave them as is. It's seldom that trying to make something visually look better actually does the job.

I may be interested in one of those Unertl's. Drop me a PM and we can talk.

Unless i know i am going to keep something for myself i leave anything i buy as is as found. The next owner of one of your unertl's may want to gold plate it. Another might like that been there done that look. Leave that up to the new owner.
