Has anyone tried Shooters World Clean Shot. I have researched and found it is Lovex D032. However even with that I have very little load data. My main interest is for 44WCF w/ 215 gr cast bullets. I would also like to load all with cast bullets 9mm, 45ACP, 38 special, 357 magnum, and 44 special. Seems to be readily available at a reasonable price.

Shooters World has a load manual available on their web site. If there is no MFG. data available for the caliber you have in mind, that should be a hint for you.

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

Thanks for the help. With the information gained I have ordered more Clean Shot and my first Buffalo Rifle. With the loads I’ve tested so far I like the powder. Again thanks for sharing.

I have been using Shooters World Clean Shot for 230 gn lead RN .45 acp, for a while. It was the only thing my LGS could find during one of the shortages. My two loads are 4.6 gn for a small ASI match, and 5.0 gn for tin can and gp loads. It is consistent and clean. It meters very well. I expect it would work well in other calibers, but I already have other powders and settled loads for those. All my reloading data for Clean Shot comes from either the Lovex or Shooters World on-line reloading data.

I went to Shooters world website but could not find where to purchase the powder? I'm claiming senility here.

I bought a pound of cleanshot when this thread came out. I finally had a chance to use it today in 38 special brass with the Lee 158 gr RNFP mold.  I wanted to compare it against Alliant Bullseye.

I used the .37 disc in my Lee Pro Auto Disk measure.  It dropped 3.3 grains of Bullseye and 3.5 grains of Clean Shot.

Shooting my 1894 Marlin CBC rifle, I was impressed with the standard deviation of 8.8 with the Bullseye load.

Then I shot the Clean Shot load, and the Standard Deviation was only 1.8!

It must have missed one of the shots - but still.

I also shot it in a Uberti 1873 revolver with a 4-3/4" barrel, and got this:

Not too bad for a powder that is always in stock at the LGS.

I would share my groups, but we were shooting at AR500 plates, and the pock marks on the plates don't make for pretty photos.

Just thought I would share my first time out with the new powder.

You should really like the Buffalo Rifle. It was made to the same specs as Accurate 5744. I use it in the 45-70, 45-90, and the 38-55. Wonderful powder in lieu of black powder in those large volume cartridges.

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

Ric,  I did put the first few rounds on paper to see where I was hitting.  This is at 10yds with the Uberti 1873 Colt.

These were literally the first 5 rounds that I had shot out of this brand new revolver I bought a few weeks ago.

I was wearing safety glasses - which means I could see the sights but the target bullseye is a blurry blob. If I wear my prescription glasses the bullseye is crystal clear and I can't see the sights.  My buddy had his optometrist set him up with a computer reading type prescription and he was able to see both the sights and the target yesterday.  He was overjoyed. Listening to a man in his 60's laughing because he could see again is heartwarming.

I will have to try my computer reading glasses next time out.

Aaron,  my LGS has almost all the Shooters World powders in stock all the time except for Buffalo Rifle.  I still have a few pounds of 5744 stashed away, but having read your results with it I do look for it when I drop in to the store.

The main purpose of the outing was to compare my new NOE big lube groove 44-40 bullet against my Accurate Molds big lube groove bullet loaded with 35 grains of Old Ensyford 1.5 Fg BP and the bullets lubed with my homemade SPG.

I bought a Rossi 65 1892 carbine last month and wanted to give it a go.  I was hitting 1150 fps with the 1.5 Fg with both bullets, the Accurate Molds actually averaged 1,191 fps.  But the cows had knocked over our shooting bench rubbing against it and trampled it a bit.  So I had to be content with popping a steel plate at 50 yards shooting offhand.  I liked the little Rossi, but my Uberti 1873 Deluxe Rifle is a bit easier to hold steady shooting offhand.

It was a good day, but a hot one standing all day in cow pasture in 94 degree heat.  Fortunately the wife, daughter and granddaughter wanted to go out for Tex-Mex when I got home, so I was able to refresh with a Margarita last night.

 Harold,

Funny you mention a Rossi M92. I just finished cleaning my 44 Mag Rossi after testing some new loads. I am cheating a bit by using Hunters Supply bullets with their "Slick Coat" polymer coating. The darn things do not lead in either the 44Mag or the 44-40 rifles.

When I communicated with the ballistic guy at Shooters World, he informed me that Buffalo Rifle was made with the same formula as 5744 Accurate powder and meets the exact closed bomb performance specifications as 5744. He informed me that "it is 5744."

My shooting results confirm that. I use the Accurate Load Data when no loads are listed for the BR in a manual. Since I am all out of 5744, I stocked up on BR when available. Since I use it in the larger cartridges by the ton, I am always looking for its availability. I'll get an 8-pounder next time. That should last me until  head off into the expanse. Ha!

This heat in the SE is brutal this year. Actually the heat coupled with 98% humidity is brutal. Although I am getting older, this type of heat/humidity is a newer situation. Give me dry heat any day!

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

BTW....sweet revolver! Did you special order it in that finish?

Aaron, it wasn't a special order, but yes I selected it on purpose.  I have a 44-40 Uberti in that finish that I really like.  I realized the other day that out of all the single actions I own, I didn't have one in 357/38.  So I had to fix that.....

I have a few Uberti's, cartridge and cap and ball.  And so far I have resisted the temptation to get rid of that reddish stain on the grips. I finally gave in and stripped this one before I had even shot it. I put 3 coats of Boiled Linseed Oil on and 4 layers of furniture wax.

I liked the way it turned out.
