Hello All. I'd just like to pass on a tip on coating the small diameter bullets. (Powder coating) There is a product called Pratipad-Square Plus available at Pratico Kitchen www.cleverona.com and on Amazon. These are silicone baking pads that have a honey comb pattern of indentations that are just the right size to stand 22 and 25 caliber bullets for baking. I'd been using slightly expanded 22LR cases drilled into an aluminum plate to hold the 22s for coating with the electrostatic gun but these silicon pads can be used with the "shake and bake' method and you can avoid the screen marks and bullets sticking together that you get when baking on a screen. I had a big backlog of 22 cast bullets and these pads made the job easy. Check them out. Gp

As someone just "drawing back" to get started with polymer coating. This is very timely. After I have made an investment in one of these I will be forced to go ahead.
Thanks.

Oh Ken, you doubting Thomas! LOL I had three different loads today that functioned the action of my AR15 with out a sign of barrel fouling. Bullets lubed with (of all things) plastic! Gp

GP were there any promising groups? I just ordered a lower build kit and leaning towards building a cast bullet upper. I would be welcome to any thoughts but we should probably do so off line or in a different thread.

Mark: As this is my thread feel free to wander about in it. LOL Just getting started on working with the AR 5.56 myself. Function being the goal at the moment. As mentioned, three different loads worked the action and locked back the bolt on last shot with no leading of the barrel or pressure signs. Three other loads fired just fine single shot but were under powered to work the action. The recent shortages got me thinking of this. I have just been using cast bullets in the 300AAC Blackout AR. but decided it was time to start with the 223. My upper (223) has a faster twist than I would use if I were building (1in8) For cast I might go with a 1in12. Feel free to PM me about further information. GP
