I just deleted an entire thread due to remarks some may find derogatory. This is the one and only time I will be posting this message. Keep your posts clean and unoffensive or I will be removing you.

Not going to he a popular opinion I don't think but how about the moderators on this forum realize they're dealing with grown men who are going to have differing opinions which might get a little heated now and then or something gets written that might "offend" someone. As far as I'm concerned if you play in a grown mans playground put on your big boy pants. This is also the second time I've read a moderator say " this is the one and only time or else........" Personally I believe of there's a problem with an individual poster or posters take it to pm and don't threaten the whole group. I was a moderator on here when it was just getting going and also the director of registered competition before Ed took over and can't remember ever threatening anyone for any post. I might have deleted a post, maybe, but never deleted a whole thread for any reason whatsoever. The whole can't we all get along thing might be good on paper but totally unrealistic in the real world. Especially a world consisting of people that have strong opinions or a low tolerance for bs.

I agree we need open discussion.Sometimes calling BS openly isn't bad and often needed. If someone gets offended too easily so be it.i don't think forum mods should be the "fuzzy feel good police"

We are grown ups and heated disagreements happen.

If a moderator is using censorship because *he/she* feels one may have offended another it's a problem.

The post was the original post of the thread, so therefore it automatically deleted the thread.

As for difference of opinions, it can be stated to not be offensive to different "groups" and "stereotypes" of people. If it can't be phrased correctly, I will delete it. I'm not threatening anyone, I am plainly stating how this will be handled in the future.

The comments were racially/geographically related and didn't need to be posted.

Open discussion is one thing. Opening a post with racial style comments is unacceptable.

Linoww,

I'm sure you see my point though. Yes we are adults, and yes there are some members that aren't adults which also needs to be kept in mind. But I don't intend to see racial/geographically based name-calling on this forum.

Which is why I suggested taking it to PMs instead of a blanket threat to the whole group. Maybe I'm alone in thinking this way but I don't like being threatened in any form and like being talked to like a child even less. Policing personal speech and how it might he taken has to be a two way street. PMing the people involved and quietly deleting the tread would have been more than effective without insulting at least one member not involved....me.

Pat, Critiquing the methods used to keep this forum from turning into a madhouse is probably also best done through pm. Because once again it's opinions.

I replied to your original post which you felt necessary to post on the open forum by giving my opinion of it on the open forum. Being a moderator doesn't exclude anyone from getting an opinion just as being a plain old forum member doesn't.
