Our little forum seems almost entirely to be shooting related and whilst the CBA is a shooting organisation we, it's users, are a community of folk with diverse interests.  As such, I would like to encourage you all to post some 'general' material about would you are doing be it another sport (I fish also, generally poorly.....), vege gardens, hobbies etc.

I'll go first.

My mother died in July and with my siblings we emptied out her house for sale.  One item I took was her old fashioned eggbeater.  I have my late aunties (mother's sister) and they are the BEST eggbeater by far and last forever.  Today I finished refurbishing mother's for my eldest daughter.  Walnut leftover from the furniture I made for my .310 Cadet.

I remember my mother having one that was very similar. Can you post a picture of the whole mechanism?  Old things like this really bring out the nurd engineer in me.

It is only the "Palm Springs of Washington" if you have enough money to buy water to grow stuff!!!!!!

I collect knives, ride electric mountain bike and help wife with the flowers.

Recent health (7500.00) and dental (1678.00) problems have put a damper on some of my extra retirement spending.

No matter how well you plan, you never have it made. Life just gets in the way too often.

Also benefited from my mother's estate not so long ago. Same "best" egg eater, and today, eating rich homemade bacon and vege soup off lovely old style silver plated soup spoons. The older I get, the more I appreciate old stuff. Also I'm a professional artist, ride an eMTB (Just did a 90km "railtrail" ride with a mate and on the following day my first (38km) "semi technical" ride in NZ bush. On the latter the bike and I parted company when I snagged a too low pedal on a tree root just before halfway point. Finished the ride but a week later I'm still nursing sore ribs Otherwise in our house I'm the cook and general factotum while my wife and partner of nearly 47yrs still brings home some bacon. If you have an interest in art you can check me out here www.hodgsonart.co.nz

I also collect bench mounted reload tools from 1900 thru 1945. So I have a bunch of different ideas of what will work. Twenty years ago I discovered that it was not the tool that made really good ammo, but the skill of the reloader.

Attached is a 1937 Jordan tool, a most excellent piece of machine work.

Scuba for me. Love to wreck dive and cave dive. The NC coast is arguably one of the best wreck diving locations in the world. With the Floridian cave system only hours away, another type of diving is available. I am a Master Scuba Diving Instructor, a technical diver with full decompression and trimix credentials. I am a gas blender and tank inspector.

Shipwreck research is my secret passion. Diving those wrecks is a fantastic adventure. Here in NC, we are blessed with the Gulf Stream's warm waters and the variety of aquatic life off the coast is unbelievable unless you see it. Diving on the Monitor was a highlight of my diving adventures. Having dove for the Sheriff's department was another 10-year adventure. You would be amazed what is under the bridges around here. Guns, washing machines, bodies, motorcycles, grocery carts, you name it.....it's under a bridge.

And then while diving off the NC coast, you see these rascals everywhere.

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

I'm in to bicycles. I am currently working on brazing my own lugged steel frame and fork for an "around town" bike I can use to ride to work. I also really enjoy hiking and camping. I went on a fun overnight hike with my oldest son this summer up near the Tetons in Wyoming.

I have way too many other hobbies. I grew up learning to do for myself, so that includes a rather small garden, canning and pickling, woodworking, chicken farming, and then meat processing. Curing and smoking my own bacon and ham, although since youngest is no longer raising pigs I have to buy my meat as primal cuts.

On top of all that I am an avid road cyclist. Have formerly raced Cyclocross. I do my own bike maintenance including building my own wheelsets. Closing in on 3K miles for the year, with my goal of 3523 miles by year end.  Cycling has allowed me to regain my health after years of sedentary life as a truck driver, and then dispatcher. From my driveway I can ride for miles in almost any direction with only stop signs. I enjoy seeing the seasons change and all the assortment of wildlife.

I am fascinated my material science.  It was a big part of my working life, and a very enjoyable one.  I'm still learning, and bullet casting is part of that!  I have a small collection of mining artifacts.  I'm not an avid collector, just like to have a few mementos of mining history.  The carbide lamps all work, it is surprising how bright the flame is.  The brass tag is from the Reitz No. 4 coal mine in Western Pennsylvania.

I collect hobbies. We have a small farm. We keep a couple cows, a few goats, a couple pigs, muscovy ducks, chickens, guinea fowl, dogs cats, feed bills and the vet gets homemade jams for tips. I’m learning to make cheese and I’ve been roasting our coffee with a heat gun and a bread maker. I put together a fixed gear bicycle with toe clips. That’s a great way to work on your timing.

Yet one other unusual shooter hobby.

In the late ‘60’s I was in a local rock group. That lasted until the early ‘80’s when I sold my guitar and amp. In 2021 I got the bug to buy a Gibson guitar just like the 1967 one that I had. I found one on line in NYC and bought it in March 2022. This one was made in 1952. Then I hunted for a period correct amplifier to be era correct with the guitar. I found a 1953 Gibson amp in Phoenix in May this year. No more commercial playing, just trying to teach myself a few things I used to know.

Blacksmithing is my thing, besides general metal fabrication. Been progressing through being a welder, welding supervisor, welding trainer, certified welding inspector and welding engineer for over 40 years, so I guess working with metal is in my blood.

Motorcycles, repair, some light restoration and occasionally rewiring. Building engines and transmissions.

I also do electronics repair for musicians, though that's business related as opposed to hobby stuff.

Firearms and reloading. I like target shooting but think reloading is more fun. Strange eh?

My other "hobby" is special interest cars, though I'm a Ford guy, I do work on other brands. This one has taken 10yrs to get where it is today, hope to send it home before the snow flies.
