During my eight- month struggle with orthopedic problems, I also lost vision in my right eye. I was going to see the eye doctor about every 4 days, and at time I was in a wheelchair, and it was about 75 miles each way.
When it got close to my surgery time,I quit my eye appointments and continued the prescribed medication. After I have gotten to where I can hobble around, I went back to the eye doctor Monday. My vision has returned a little but the doctor said it wasn't going to get any better. My loss of vision was due to two ulcers in my right eye caused by inflammation, or that is what they tell me. The ulcers that I did have are now scar tissue and hence the vision will not get any better. He informed me of a new development in medical technology. They have developed a new hard contact lense that is bigger than normal contacts, and will cover the scared areas. He says my vision will be as good as my left eye, which is better than 20--20 They are scheduling me for an appointment to make measurements for my particular eye. I'm anxious to see how it works out.
If you are having vision trouble with your shooting eye, you might want to check into this. I"m 79, and have always took pride in being able to stand up on my hind legs and shoot open sights like the man I used to be. I don't know is this will solve every one's vision problems, or only in cases like my scaring.
I can certainly say, that I am in a much better frame of mind, knowing there is a good possibility of getting my vision back.
I was left- handed when I was little, and then in the first grade they changed me to my right. At that time, they didn't think it was normal to be let-handed. While my eye has been so bad, I've been setting around with a BB gun and learning to shoot left- handed. Now, maybe I won't have to do that. I'm on pins and needles waiting to see how this works out. If anyone has this type of problem, they might want to check into it.
