Does anyone have information of the composition of the older Lyman alloys #4 and #6? I can't find any information with a decent internet search and the LASC website. No printed material I have lists those alloy compositions either.

I have both the 1980 Cast Bullet Handbook and the more recent 4th Edition (2010) Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook and can't find the formula in them. Can you tell me which edition and page number for those alloy formula? I am very familiar with #2 alloy and Lyman seemed to settle on that alloy before 1980.

I am seeking the specific reference to Lyman #4 and Lyman #6 as alloys named thusly. It could be that 40:1 or 30:1 or 20:1 is the new name for one of those alloys - or not.

But, do you have a specific Edition of the CBH naming the #4 and #6 alloy composition?

Lyman # 4 - 1 part tin to 20 parts lead is also refered to as 20-1 lead- tin alloy...the same for Lyman No. 6- 1 part tin to 40 parts lead= 40-1 lead-tin alloy.  The Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook For all popular Rifles, Pistols, and Black Powder Guns.
