H&G 68 "clones" in smaller calibers?

Given the fact that the H&G 68 bullet shape works so well in most all 1911 and similar .45 ACP gats, I am surprised that no one offers a mold for a similar shaped bullet for say 9mm, .32, etc. Does the H&G 68 shape only work well with 1911 and similar pistols with a barrel that tilts as it unlocks?

In my own experience the 68 works in all 1911 guns that I have seen it tried in.  It's roughly a truncated cone design with a wad cutter shoulder, so should be reasonably effective for serious use even if it does not expand.

So, what am I missing here, why do I only see this design used in .45 ACP?  Has anyone tried scaling it down to other calibers?

I don't know what H&G 68 looks like exactly, but if you go to Accurate Moulds I am sure you can find something similar in one or more of those smaller calibers.  Brodie

Well, now that I look some similar designs are out there for 9mm at least.  Still I wonder why that #68 design is so very popular for the .45 ACP, but I don't see it as much, say in commercial cast bullets, for other calibers.

Seems to me what is good in a .45 would be good in any automatic.

But particularly in .32 ACP, I don't see that design being used much.

Maybe I just saw a lot of the #68 amongst IPSC shooters in the 80's and have a skewed sample.

I think the HG 275 was a scaled down 68, though I've no sources to back up that claim.

Mihec makes a nice copy of it, shoots well in my CZ. Now if I could just get myself an HG 68 mold...

Looking at an old H&G catalog here: http://www.hensleygibbs.com/HGcatalogs/HG_Catalog_1994.pdf I believe you are right, the HG 275 is/was a scaled down 68 for use in a 9mm. Interesting
