Dewey rod handles not spinning

I have 3 Dewey rods that I've not used in nearly 20 years.  They have been properly stored and in no way abused.  The handles no longer spin...nor turn even with considerable effort.  There is a screw in the handle base but I'm unable to turn it without the entire length of the rod turning also.  Suggestions to free up please.

Oil them up and see what happens? Wrap the rods in a leather glove and clamp them in a vise and try working the handles back and forth after a good soak?

I have them jag down with Kroil in screw at end of red handle.  I'll advise.  Thank-you

Ed's Red works for me with stuck screws.

Use sparingly and do not get on the plastic.

I've had the same issue with some of my Dewey rods.  Back off the nut on the end of the handle.  If you remove the handle to clean it up, there's some tiny ball bearings that are easily lost.  So work over a large baking pan so you don't loose the balls.

Thank-you...I'll try that as soaking allows me to rotate the handles but just barely.  They certainly aren't spinning.

Blessings gents!

Had a couple older ones that did that, contacted Dewey and they sold me the parts to upgrade to current style for much less than replacing with new rods. Best I can remember, it had something to do with the plastic bearing surface on the handle. My upgraded ones work perfect.

Took me a bit to find it, but Dewey changed their handle design from plastic bearing raceways to metal sometime in the early 2000s. The parts were new handles with metal races. The handles are threaded to the rods with sealant which required some fiddling to break loose without damage, end result was much better than the original even when new.

Thank you all.  Dewey is sending me replacement handles.
