Custom H&I sizing die

Sorry if this is in an old thread. I’m in need of a .433 H&I sizing die. Thanks for any help.

Buffalo Arms appears to carry a .432” and a .436”. They may offer a custom service.

Lee doesn't advertise it, but for $10.00 over the price of their standard push thru sizer, they will make custom diameter sizers.

The problem with opening up a H&I die is you now have an under size ejector rod. The rod now leaks lube both top and bottom.
The better solution is to purchase a slightly larger H&I die and use it to lube the bullets.
Now do the sizing in a Lee push through die of the correct size.

H&I dies are hardened, Lee dies are not. It is easy to enlarge a Lee die, since there is no close fit ejector rod this causes no problems.

I did not know about the availability of custom Lee dies. This is nice to know and I may use this in the future.

Thanks for the responses, I found a custom die maker. S&S Firearms they had a quick turn around on the order and the tolerances are tight. No lube leakage around the body or ejector rod. Again thanks for everyone’s input.

I never found .001" undersize ejector rod to be of any consequence. I make my dies myself in my lathe and used to meticulously make new rods to a sweet close fit. Not anymore.

Same here; make mine about .003" small and the NRA lube I use doesn't leak around. If too tight, it is really hard to work and stress the sizer..
