I treated myself to a CZ (Huglu…Turkish) side by side 20 gauge 26” barreled with 5 chokes. I make and load my own black powder and have Magtech brass cases that take large pistol primers. I have 17 gauge nitro wads, cushion wads, and over shot wads. I also have cast .600” round balls from wheel weights. Have any of you done this kind of thing and what has worked out for you?

The only guns that I did this with were muzzle loading shotguns. With quite a bit of experimentation with patch, wad and load they shot very well.

Since yours is a breach loader. Make sure that the ball will pass through your choke that is installed. Probably should allow leeway for some flatting of the ball in the bore by the force of firing.

I tried the balls in each choke and found that improved modified and full work with just a push with a finger and a smart rap with a range rod. With the brass case the balls rattle inside. I’m going to try different wad stacks to fill the case. I considered patching the balls in the case but then I will need to go back and look at choke clearance.
