Has anyone used Simple Green to remove black powder fouling? How did it work?

Why? Water works fine.

It will work just fine. I use two drops of Dawn dish soap in two quarts of hot water. That takes half the patches to get a clean barrel. Water is the active ingredeant, but fastser and easier to clean with a little surfactant.

+1 what RIC said. Most people add waaay too much deterrent. Two drops is enough. More than an eye dropper full to a gallon leaves detergent residue in the bore.

Does anyone use grease cookies to help keep black powder fouling soft? I've had very little success using a blow tube. What is the trick?

A friend used grease cookies and swore by them.

Grease cookie solidly taking up airspace between bullet base and over powder card. Compressed.
