A couple of weeks ago I used the last of the LeveRevolution I'd been running in 30-30 cast (and jacketed) for several years.

Prior to that, my favorite had always been 748 - best accuracy and good velocity with cast, but 100 fps slower than LVR. Anyway, it's back to the 748, with a bit less speed than LVR, but still good results.

We've had a long spell of wind where I am, and I could no longer wait it out, so the rezeroing target had to be shot in the wind. That leaves me still uncertain on my lateral zero. And one shot fell out of the group when I fired too quickly and missed a drop in the wind. To check the "wind affected" theory I fired an extra shot, hence the six shot group.

POI was a little lower than for LVR, consistent with 100 fps less velocity, but I was happy with the group from a hunting perspective. Translated from meters to yards, that would be a 2" group at 100 yards. Underlying POI may have drifted a little after nine months of shooting and bumps, although the boresighter was still saying it was OK.

Velocity for six shots was 2150 fps, SD 21.

Rifle was my 1899 Savage, 24" barrel, 12" twist,  with Leupold scope on 7X. Bullets were #U321297HP, 16 BHN, sized .312", 175 gns, COL 2.535". Load was 33 gns 748, FC primer.

I have been working on the pigs with the new/old load, with the usual success. This one was from a few nights ago. Range was about 100 meters. Image is the last frame of the video before the whiteout. The hit was a little far back, given the angle, but demise was rapid after some initial gymnastics. Sorry I don't have a morning after shot - by then it was raining and I wasn't hanging around. She was a mature sow, but not "big".
