Is there any particular weight bullet in plain base that seems to shoot better than other weight bullets in 03 and 03-A3 rifles with original 2 and 4 groove barrel's?     I have a new 2 groove barrel, a slightly worn 4 groove and a 4 groove that is dark in the grooves   Or is it just a matter of bullet fit to the barrel.

A light bullet would be disappointing in the 03A3. 165-200 gr bullets work fine when they fit the throat of an 03A3. Mine shoots best for target with the Lee C312-185-1R sized .3105” with or without a gas check and H4895. That is an inexpensive mold that sizes and shoots well in the 03A3. I shoot it plain or use aluminum 31 cal gas checks for higher pressure loads. This bullet can also be easily hollow pointed for hunting with the Forster HP cutter on loaded ammo in a drill press. Mine consistently shoots 2.1"@100 yards@2050fps with a gas check and stock Mil open sights from the bench. Mine is a pristine parts rifle built from all new Mil Parts, barrel is 1942 rem. 4 groove that was unfired when I got it. I cast certified Lyman #2 alloy and tumble lube for all my bullets for this rifle. My Lee bullet sizing die is custom honed by me  to size .3105” specifically for this rifle throat .
