hi riflejohn here was looking for some load info with this bullet out of a savage mod.12 .308 1in12 twist I have some of these cast that are a 10 hardness I also have some lineotype .This mould has a plain base.  thanksssssssssss

I use soft 10 BHN plainbased bullets with good results using Frank Marshall's old loads.

With 150-170 grain bullet similar to yours or 311291 without GC:

4 grains start, 5.5 max. of Bullseye in a .30-30 as baseline.

Increase start and max. loads ONE grain for .30-40 Krag, .300 Savage or. 303 British.

Increase start and max. loads TWO grains for .308 Win., 7.62x54R and 8mm Mauser.

Increase start and max. loads THREE grains for. 30-'06.

Riflejohn,

Another good load is 6.0 grains of Unique or WW231 in the .308. Lube the as cast bullet by hand and start into a de-primed/re-primed case without any sizing. Lee punch de-primer rods and hand primers work great.

Ric Ric, I assume your bullets are tight enough that they won't be pushed into the brass during loading or pulled out of an unfired round :).
