I was finally successful in ruining my pid. So now I need  a new one. The one I had was simple to use,it plugged into the wall and the pot plugged into the controller. Now I can't find a controller that works that way. Can somebody recommend a pid that that you just plug in? Got one you'd sell?

Also: is the new Lyman pot equipped with a pid and does it keep temps close?

Greetings,

Precisely what is damaged?

If the controller, write down the part/model number and do an eBay or Google search.

The Lyman and RCBS pots with the built in PID are subject to failure. You need to keep the pot/s running until the metal is cool enough to shut down. While it is running, the fan keeps the PID from overheating.

If the power goes out, you stand a good chance of damaging the built in PID as there is no cooling action, unless you plug it into your portable generator. If you do, move fast.

The PID units separate from the pot are, in my opinion, the best route.

Cheers,

Dave
