I have a Miroku (Winchester) M94 rifle with a dang saddle ring on the side of it. After two years of fussing with that stupid ring to keep it out of my way (I am a southpaw) while hunting, I have decided to remove the useless saddle ring and am trying to find a plug screw that will fit the hole.

I have found a few plug screws online but can not verify if the new Miroku rifles use a 8x36 pitch in that hole. Miroku is impossible to get hold of to answer the question. I am assuming that Miroku will use the same thread specs as the Winchester made rifles of yesteryear. Assuming of course, is not a good habit.

Does anyone on this site know for sure if Miroku uses the same threads as before or have they gone to metric?

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

When I rebarreled a Winchester Miroku it was metric threads. I would assume that they use metric threads though out.

Have you removed the saddle ring and measured the screw?

I attempt to get intel before I put a tool to the gun. I would like to have a correct plug in-hand before tooling the gun. Nobody seems to know what this plug thread is and the previous comment about metric barrel threads is disheartening.

I usually just ditch the ring and leave the stud .

Update. The Numrich Post-94 Winchester Saddle Ring Plug ( 303210A or 303210B) will not fit the Miroku Winchester rifles. The hole in the receiver is too large for the plug screw. By large I mean diameter. The hole is like 3mm and the plug is like 1mm. I am using those numbers to give you the idea. I was too disappointed to measure the darn saddle ring post. DANG!

Of note: the threaded portion of the original saddle ring post is SHORT, and I mean SHORT with a very fine thread pitch. I was extremely worried it would snap off during reassembly. I did manage to get it back in and I am hoping it will last the lifetime of the rifle. It is apparent to me that these are not meant to be removed on the Miroku Winchester rifles.

Just cut it and file it mostly flush and all will be good in the world then.
