I had never heard of NOE until I became a member of the association and the forum a few years ago. I ordered some equipment and was quite happy with it and hadn't been back on their site until this afternoon. I was shocked, they are out of so much product. Does anyone know what the cause is?

I guess I should call them and ask personally but I don't want to hassle them. Does anyone have the answer.

I got on the sight to order some sizer bushings. I need a .321 and.,319 body sizer bushings,I also need nose punches for the same. If anyone has such and want to sell it. I'm in the market. I will accept either NOE or Lyman.

When I do order from them , I normal call them and Al is the one I talk with and tells me if he has what I looking for or not and if I need something else for what I need. Like the GC expander I needed for 22 cal, He told me what I need and go from there, Also with many getting into casting molds gose fast. I do not go with order from the site, Just see what they have and then I call Al. He is very helpful. He is a good man to deal with and I get my order within the time he said ,.

Al has a business model formulated for success;

  • top quality product
  • he asks a fair price for his product
  • excellent customer service

On one of my previous orders, an item I ordered showed one left before I placed the order, zero after, but I must have placed my order at the same time someone else ordered the same item and he was sold out. I received a call from Al and he talked to me like we have been friends for 20 years and explained they were finishing a run of the item I ordered and would ship soon.

I am sure that the business is operating a full speed and as fast as molds can be made. With the web stats available to any web site owner, Al can determine what molds are getting viewed the most and in what order they are viewed. He is probably focusing the production on the most popular (viewed) molds and accessories. A smart and savvy business owner would.

Unfortunately for weirdo's like me, the one mold he made for the 183.23 grain 8.48 x 66.45 Oddballium Rifle with its gas checked boat-tail hollow-point spire sold in December to another weirdo and he probably won't be machining one until next year since only one of them ever sold in the last 5 years. I bet his focus is on handgun bullets and popular rifle calibers and weights.

I did just order a HP mold for my 38-55 rifle last week. All the aluminum molds were sold out so I paid a little extra and got the brass mold which was available. I am glad I did. Boy is it beautiful. The mold shipped the NEXT DAY and was in my mailbox 3 days later.

So like Coydog mentioned, the demand for bullet molds is through the roof right now but seems to be on the decline. Midway and other online sources seem to have some common Lyman, Lee, and RCBS molds back in stock and available. Accessories and such are beginning to appear as well. Powder is starting to show up but sells out within a few hours.

I am happy to see the small businesses doing so well. Good for them. We weirdo's just need to maintain our patience while they toil away and satiate the demands of the new market. Fortunately most of those tyro's will quickly tire of the casting endeavor when they run out of stuff to melt.

With rifle in hand, I confidently go forth into the darkness.

I have happily bought from NOE for years and have been very happy.  I visit their website at least once a month.  My guess is that they are covered in orders, and are probably suffering from supply shortages too.  Wishing them the best!

 Hello Coydog,

This recent order, I ordered from the website, but in the past all of my orders were on the phone and dealing directly with Al. I agree, Al is a very nice and helpful person and their products, that I have used are great too. with the stuff that they did have and with a little manufacturing of my own, on the lathe and I will be in business.

Hello Aron,

Yes, when you like firearms and calibers that are not in the normal realm, things get kind of frustrating, but like they say, different strokes for different folks. One thing I don't have to worry about is running out of something to melt. I'm looking forward to the time all the manufacturers get caught up and like you say the neophytes get tired of their new hobby. I believe a lot of the new interest in casting is due to the shortage of factory ammo and people are scared of what is going to happen to their firearm rights.

You have probably heard of shade tree mechanicing, well I did some shade tree bullet casting yesterday. I have two shops, the small old one is air-conditioned but new new large one isn't. I needed some bullets for an experiment, and I don't cast inside the air-conditioned shop and since it was 103 degrees at the time, I wasn't going in to non-airconditioned shop, I set a pair of sawhorses under a big shade tree, in front of the shop, threw a scrap of plywood on and hauled the necessary casting equipment out. there was a pretty strong south wind, so I had

Mashburnmother nature's ventilation system. I just got my chair on the south side and went to work.
