Does anyone make a 22 caliber mold that will produce bullets ~ .223-.224"?  Both my Lyman and Lee molds drop bullets around .225-6.  I'd like something small, plain based, for powder coating, if I could get it for less than an arm and a leg.  Thanks.

Throat entrance diameter minus .0005" is a good place to start, maybe even minus .001" with a slick.

The original 22 Hornet designs ran around .223. The modern ones seem to run .224-5 now. The Hornet designs are normally lighter in weight than the later ones, if this makes any sense.

Too bad I can't find a mold meant for the original 22 hornet.  Speer used to sell 22 hornet bullets that measured .223.  I used to have some.  Bought my first Hornet around 1978 when they were "obsolete".  It was a Savage 340.  That one had a .224 bore but it shot the .223 bullets just fine.

Arsenal Molds looks like what I was looking for.  They make a mold specifically for powder coating.  A two cavity aluminum mold for $73 sounds reasonable.  And they will cut it to your specifications for diameter.  Now I need to do some home work to decide exactly what size I need for my Tikka 223.

Arsenal molds make moulds to the size that you want. Excellent moulds, very similar to NOE in build quality and design. Not too many designs, though.

I am sure NOE could accommodate your need since they make bullets as small as .17 caliber. Call Al Nelson and tell him what you need.
