Can you weaken the loading gate spring on a Ruger Blackhawk and if not are new weaker spring available

I polished the portion of the gate that rode on the spring and things smoothed out. I don’t know about changing the spring.

No, weaker springs are not available. But as delmarskid says it can be lightened with a little polishing.

Ruger has disassembly/reassembly video's on you-tube. If they are still there. 

Use a hard Arkansas stone on the spring. Be careful not to change the angle.
