I came across a book titled The Art of Simple Living. It is written by a Buddhist monk. To me it explains what this hobby has meant to me, over my lifetime of reloading. It hit the nail on the head. Shooting factory loads seems to leave something to be desired.

I think this applies to those that hunt, fish, and even do wood building projects. We call it a hobby, but we do not call it work. It is the process to get the desired result.

Yes, modern conveniences seem to give us more time, but to most they just allow more time for more conveniences. Like the old saying, "take time to smell the roses".

I recently bought my first ever 9mm. Its a Taurus PT92 with the 17 round mags. Love it. Everyone says 9mm ammo is so cheap its not worth it to reload. Figured I wouldn't. I bought a couple boxes of ammo from Walmart and took them to the range and shot them.
That was like kissing my sister. But at least I had brass.
I went home and ordered dies off Amazon, then I went out in the shed and dug up any mold I had that might work. I've got a Lee 2 cavity 124 grain mold, a 6 cavity 105 SWC, and a 6 cavity 105 RN. One rainy day while camping I cast up a bunch of 124 grain bullets with the 2 cavity mold. I've been loading for those double-stack magazines with my single-stage press and loving it
Then I read that page and it made a lot of sense. "when we eliminate time and effort, we eliminate life's pleasures."

That sums up for my hobbies of hunting and fishing and trapping and casting , when I am up to it tanning and some taxidermy for myself . I have not done much of the last 2 due to the other 4 keep me going forward,When in the mood and find the time I do . They all show me what I had gain in it all ,the write is is just that .
